Disaster Recovery

Disaster Planning & Recovery

The associates at Heller Conservation Services, LLC are available to assist with developing a disaster plan for your collections to mitigate possible losses from natural and manmade disasters. Should a disaster be catastrophic, HCS can provide assistance with recovery and treatment services to restore damaged artwork, if possible. Insurers and Adjusters we have worked with the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies, Pure, Van Liner, Travelers, AIG Private Client Group, and Young Adjustment Company. HCS has also partnered with disaster recovery providers such as ServePro and Belfor.

We strongly suggest that you maintain up to date records of your fine and decorative art collections and that at least one copy is kept in an offsite location. These records should include high-resolution images of the items in their current condition. You should also consider having an accredited appraiser examine your collection and update your coverage amounts as needed, scheduling higher value items. HCS strongly suggests that valuable collections be insured by providers that specialize in insuring art collections.

Please note that we charge for the preparation of estimates for disaster recovery projects, regardless of whether or not the treatment is subsequently completed. These charges will also include travel time as well as other related travel costs such as housing and per diem depending upon the travel distance from our studio.
